Stump grinding chips the stump down several inches below ground level so you can re-sod, replant, or build over the spot. Full removal pulls the entire root ball out and leaves a large hole. For most yards, grinding is faster, cleaner, and more affordable — and we take care of the problem roots too.
How deep do you grind the stump?
We grind below the surface — usually 6 to 12 inches deep — so the area can be leveled, seeded, or planted over without the old stump getting in the way.
What happens to the wood chips and debris?
We rake the grindings back into the hole to settle, or haul them off if you'd rather have the area cleared. Either way we leave the spot raked clean — better than we found it.
How long does it take to grind a stump?
Most stumps are ground out in a single visit, often in under an hour each depending on size and how hard the wood is. Big hardwoods or full lots take longer — we'll tell you what to expect when we quote the job.
